 Sentry

How does it Work?

The most easily installed  monitoring and callout product  on the market today!

 A self-contained, stand-alone satellite-based monitoring and tracking device.

Sentry ("Sentry") unit is the "field side" of the SatAlarm monitoring and tracking system. The Sentry unit monitors internal and external sensors on the site or vehicle and reports, via satellite, conditions based on events (alarms) or a schedule. The user can also initiate a poll for information to the Sentry at any time over the satellite network.

The heart of the Sentry is the GlobalWave MT2000 satellite modem that communicates over Transcore's GlobalWave(TM) satellite network. This is a bi-directional satellite network that permits data and messages to be received from the Sentry, as well as allowing polls, messages, and commands to be sent to the Sentry.

The Sentry's most basic function is that of a Run/No-Run callout alarm for remote site equipment such as natural gas compressors, well heads, tanks, pumps, etc. The Sentry is self-powered by its own internal lithium battery pack, which can last over 2 years in simple callout applications. A solar module can be added to save hundreds of dollars and preserve battery life. The internal vibration sensor can be used for completely non-intrusive, "zero install" monitoring of compressors and engines. Simple end devices such as pressure switches, dry contacts, etc. can be monitored by connecting them through an inexpensive cable directly to the Sentry's I/O port. These end-devices require no external power source, making simple monitoring for site alarm conditions easier than ever.

AMCi makes accessory devices that can be used with the Sentry to enable more complex monitoring applications.

Control Relay Module - remotely control field devices using a relay controlled via satellite connected to the Sentry
External Power Module - power the Sentry and other accessories from local solar or vehicle or DC site power for high power usage applications (e.g. hourly scheduled reporting, high GPS usage, etc.)

SatAlarm Interface Device (SID) - an external Sentry-powered, microcontroller-based interface device that allows many different applications to be satellite communication enabled, such as:
  • Callout with first fault information via protocol-based serial communication for:
    • Murphy TTDJ Annunciator
    • AnnunciatorMurphy S-400
    • Controller
      Murphy Millennium
    • Controller
      Altronic DD-20/40 NTS Annunciator

  • Up to 6 additional 12-bit analog inputs and 10 additional digital inputs/outputs.
  • High current relay
  • Flow readings by schedule or poll from Electronic Flow Meters
  • And more......

The user interface to the data provided through the Sentry is AMCi's web-based SatAlarm-Server. Alarm notifications via Email, pager, text message to cell phone, and voice call by live operator are orchestrated by SatAlarm-Server. Users can log in securely to view current and Historical data, generate reports, poll for up to the minute information from the remote asset, and more.

SatAlarm-Server can interface directly to the customer's own back office application via FTP, XML, etc.

Features:
  • 2-way data transmission direct to satellite
  • Seamless GlobalWave(TM) coverage of North and Central America
  • Self-contained (no external wires, power, or sensors for basic operation)
  • Battery life up to 2 years
  • Certified UL & CSA Class I, Division 2, Groups A-D
  • Internal sensors for vibration, temperature, battery voltage
  • Serial port for short text and data messaging
  • Integrated GPS receiver for location and tracking using maps on SatAlarm-Server web site
  • External I/O connector for optional monitoring of digital and analog sensors and other end devices
  • Easy installation in under 5 minutes from in the box to full-functionality
  • Powerful magnets for mounting Sentry onto equipment and vehicles (no brackets required)
  • No moving parts to wear out
  • Unlimited access to the secure SatAlarm-Server web site

Finally, true satellite-based  monitoring is affordable and  easy to install!

Our customers can go from  unpacking the hardware in the  field to monitoring their  equipment  on the Internet in less  than 5  minutes

Server

Monitor, Control, and Manage Remote Assets

Web-based User Access and Administrative System

Server is a software product that enables users and administrators to interact with and manage individual and fleets of remote assets. All interaction is conducted using a web browser from anywhere with Internet access.

Server is a robust system that manages all the data flow and presentation between the SatAlarm products in the field and end users wherever they may be. Server is hosted on AMCi-owned servers located at a secure Tier-1 colocation facility in downtown Denver, Colorado, monitored and manned 24 hours a day. A second, fully-functional backup system is installed on AMCi's servers at our Golden, Colorado headquarters.

The essential physial components of Server are (1) a web server for user and administrative interaction, (2) a database server running a SQL-compliant database for storing, organizing, and operating on all the various data, (3) a communications gateway server for exchanging data with satellite and terrestrial communications networks, (4) a notification server that manages the tasks of sending alarm and administrative notifications, and (5) a supervisory monitor server that watches over all the resources to make sure everything is operating properly.

In addition to the main servers, there is also other equipment including uninterruptable power supplies, routers, switches, firewalls, backup drives, etc., as well as fail-over and load-sharing servers.

Finally, true satellite-based monitoring is affordable and easy to install!
